18 November - 12 February. Louisiana Museum of Modern Art presents an exhibition of works by leading contemporary Chinese artist Ai Weiwei, from the years 2003-2010.
Weiwei's artistic practice extends from traditional, physical pieces to incorporate conceptual projects, social activities, design and architecture.
Seen by China as a dissident, the artist was arrested and held without charges for several months this year because of his campaigns against corruption and of the Chinese government's infringement of human rights.
The exhibition comprises three large-scale works: Trees, Rocks, and Forever: Fountain of Light, as well as number of films. By mixing tradition and technology, Ai Weiwei’s art reflects the principal currents of the 20th century.
Weiwei has previously shown at Louisiana as part of the exhibition Made in China in 2007 and also at the museum’s major architecture exhibition Frontiers of Architecture III-IV – Living in 2011.
