Sport: Copenhagen world’s first Bike City.
Tuesday, May 15th 2007The International Cycling Union (UCI) has officially named the Danish capital the world’s first Bike City at a ceremony held in the Copenhagen City Hall. The designation is in recognition of the importance given by the city to cycling both as a competitive sport and a means of transport. Copenhagen is to host a number of professional cycling events over the next few years including the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup race in 2008 and 2009, a UCI Track Cycling World Cup Classics race in 2007-2008 and 2008-2009, as well as the 2010 UCI Track Cycling World Championships and the 2011 UCI Road World Championships.
