Ydre Noerrebro (outer Noerrebro)

Description

Outer Noerrebro is known as the immigrants district; it is a multicultural area and this influence finds expression in food markets owned by foreigners, exotic shops and the many languages spoken. Most buildings date from 1920-1945, but the architecture represents the whole of the 20th century. The apartments are often small and some do not have a bath, and low prices make them popular with young people. Created in the 1930s, Noerrebro-parken (Noerrebro park) has football pitches and basketball courts as well as playing fields for children. Major roads in the area mean that the traffic can be quite heavy, particularly in the rush hour, but despite a few problems this quarter has its charm. The many cultures, narrow streets, an own identity and good public transport make Ydre Noerrebro good value for money.
